Engaged members are more likely to remain members, and we work hard to make sure our 4,000 plus members are happy and involved. However, we are often asked by members how they can become MORE proactive in supporting Women In Trucking (WIT) and our mission.

We love to hear this question, as every nonprofit depends on its volunteers to assist in promoting the organization.  From the board members to our Image Team, these are all people who give freely of their time and energy because they want to see us succeed.

So, if you are one of those who has asked us how you can be more involved, here are some ideas.

Follow us on social media and share our posts. You can find Women In Trucking on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram. Be sure to hit “like” and share to help spread our mission and message!

WIT e-News. Keep up with WIT happenings and industry news by reading the weekly WIT e-newsletterwhich hits your inbox every Wednesday morning. Our publication, Redefining the Road is delivered to your mailbox three times annually.

EngageWe have been working hard to create a secure, members only, online platform for you, which is called Engage. The platform encourages mentoring, community and education by allowing members to virtually connect and collaborate through distinct community groups. Start a discussion or add to one that’s already interacting. Be visible and active to help members learn, connect and network. Download the app to keep the WIT community right at your fingertips!

Members-Only Site. While you’re on our website, check out the members-only section and see what products and services are available at a discount for you. Reach out to these vendors and thank them for supporting WIT by providing this benefit for our members.

Attend the Accelerate! Conference & Expo. If you haven't attended the WIT annual Accelerate! Conference & Expo, please consider coming this year. The entire event is focused on empowering, educating (60+ educational tracks) and providing networking opportunities for women (and men!) in the trucking industry. We are always looking for volunteers to speak, to help register or to be a round table topic facilitator at lunch each day. We anticipate over 1,000 attendees this fall, so anyone interested in helping us make this the most successful one ever, please let us know.

Sponsor/Exhibit at the Accelerate! Conference & Expo. Build your brand and name recognition through powerful online, emarketing, and in print strategies while having an in-person presence at the conference. We offer five levels of sponsorship featuring robust packages with deliverables that can get your company on the air, in national ads, thought leadership, and much more. Our attendees are transportation decision-makers, who are mid- to upper-managers, directors, VPs and Presidents of trucking companies, private fleets, 3PLs, manufacturers, etc., who are looking for solutions. For more information, check out the Exhibit/Sponsor page or contact Carleen Herndon.

Our Magazine. Redefining the Road is Women In Trucking’s award-winning magazine published three times per year. Our content speaks to drivers as well as corporate professionals in diverse roles such as Marketing & Sales, HR/Talent Management, Operations and Safety, and Leadership. Be sure to nominate a distinguished person or company for our Top Lists: Top Women to Watch in Transportation, Top WBEs, and Top Companies to Work for in Transportation. For more information about our magazine, deadlines, and advertising opportunities, contact Carleen Herndon.

The Salute to Women Behind the Wheel. Female CDL holders can join us at the Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) each March for Women In Trucking’s Salute to Women Behind the Wheel – a ceremony to recognize and honor female drivers for their service and commitment to the industry. Companies can support the event and meet drivers by participating as a sponsor. For more information, contact Carleen Herndon.

Monthly Webinars. Participate in our monthly webinar series and share the links with your colleagues. These webinars are free to both members and potential members, and the presenters are offering their expertise for your benefit. You might also want to provide a webinar as well. Reach out to Lana Nichols if you are interested.

Become a Mentor or Mentee. We are always looking for mentors and mentees. Under the resources tab on our website, you can find our mentor match program. You’ll enter your search criteria and enroll so someone can connect with you for networking or career development.

Task Force. The Women In Trucking Association has task forces that focus on specific issues that need discussion, industry insight or just brainstorming. If you are interested in serving on a task force, contact us.

PDC Program. The Professional Development Certification program is designed to provide women the tools and information to grow both personally and professionally in the industry. The program consists of 30 courses in an online format that will increase your knowledge, professional skills, and marketability as you navigate your career. We are providing the first course in the program, The History of WIT, to you absolutely free as part of your membership benefits.

Girl Scout Event. If you really want to spend some time and effort on volunteering, consider hosting a Girl Scout event. We provide the curriculum, the patches and if you wish, you can also order the supply chain activity book. We’ll help you coordinate the event with a local Girl Scout Troop as well. This is a great way to introduce young girls to the importance of the trucking industry. For more information about the Women In Trucking’s Girl Scout (Guide) Transportation Patch and curriculum, please contact Lana Nichols.

Industry Events. If you attend any industry trade shows or conferences where WIT will be exhibiting, please offer to help us at a booth or attend our presentation. It’s an excellent way for you to interact with attendees and get a pulse for what issues are essential to our members. Check out our Events Calendarto see what's upcoming.

There are many ways to support your organization, the Women In Trucking Association. We welcome your insight, your passion, and your involvement. Engaged members are happy members, and our goal is to represent you and to keep you happy. Thanks for your support!
