Lana R. BattsLana R. Batts has almost three decades of experience in the trucking industry. She is currently managing partner in Transport Capital Partners, LLC, (formerly known as Larsen, Batts, Welborn & Co.), a mergers and acquisition firm that specializes in the trucking industry (2001 to present) (TransportCap.com). She is also the principal in Batts & Associates, LLC, a transportation-consulting firm that specializes in research and business development for the trucking industry (2000 to present) (LanaBatts.com). She was the President of the Truckload Carriers Association (1994-2000) (Truckload.org). While at the Truckload Carriers Association, she led the successful turn around of the Professional Truck Driver Institute (PTDI.org) and established the Truckload Academy (TruckLoadAcademy.org). She was the Senior Vice President for the Government Affairs for the American Trucking Associations (1974-1992) (Trucking.org). She also was the executive vice president and chief development officer of Transportal Network, an Internet eCommerce infrastructure start-up offering capacity and yield management as well as group purchasing services (2000). She also was the President and CEO of the American Financial Services Association (1992-1994) (afsaonline.org).Batts is on the Board of Directors of several companies, including IdleAire Technologies (IdleAire.com), PeopleNet Communication Company (peoplenetonline.com), Seabridge International (seabridgeusa.com), and the Transportation Costing Group (TCQCIS.com). She served as president of the Transportation Research Forum. In 1994 she was the proud recipient of the American Trucking Associations' highest award - the S. Earl Dove award. In 1997, she was named Woman of the year by the Women ?s Transportation Seminar. In 2006, she received the Lee Crittenden award from the Professional Truck Driver Institute for her contributions to the organization's goals. She grew up in a trucking family in Billing, Montana, where her father owned a livestock trucking company. She graduated from the University of Montana with a degree in Political Science and History and holds an MA (with honors) from the University of Miami (FL) in Politics and Public Affairs. She has done doctoral work at the University of Maryland in transportation. |
