Christopher W. (Chris) Burruss is the President of the Truckload Carriers Association. Prior to joining TCA in March 2004, Mr. Burruss was President and CEO of the Tennessee Trucking Association. Mr. Burruss assumed those duties in May of 1999.
Mr. Burruss was raised in Jefferson City, Missouri and educated in the public school system. After completing high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving for 5 years on active duty before being honorably discharged in 1991. He is a veteran of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
From 1991 until he assumed his duties with the Tennessee Trucking Association, he worked for the Missouri Motor Carriers Association. He held the position of Vice President of that organization.
Mr. Burruss is also President of the North American Transportation Management Institute (NATMI) and the Professional Truck Driver Institute (PTDI). In addition he serves as President of the Truckload Academy and the TCA Scholarship fund. He is also a member of the American Society of Association Executives.
