Feeding America Pledge

The Women In Trucking Association, with the assistance of Truckstop.com, are coordinating efforts to help provide transportation for Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger relief organization, feeding four billion meals to families each year.

Every year, nearly 70 billion pounds of good, safe, food goes to waste, including six billion pounds of fresh produce. Feeding America works to secure donated food from producers, retailers and manufacturers. They have a network of 200 food banks which supply 60,000 food pantries in all fifty states, Washington DC and Puerto Rico.

How you can help:

We believe the trucking industry can help Feeding America save costs by donating some of the transportation of these loads. You select the loads that work within your network at your convenience.

The freight might be as small as one pallet or as large as truckload, but it all needs to be brought to the Feeding America distribution facility. Your pickup could be at a manufacturing facility, distribution warehouse or other food production location.

We aren’t asking you to make a commitment, but we are asking you to make a pledge to help. We want to show Feeding America and their network of food banks, food pantries and more importantly the families themselves, that the trucking industry cares.

How many loads could you transport for Feeding America this year?

Please contact lana@womenintrucking.org to add your name to the list of carriers who have agreed to help in this effort. Once the Feeding America project is ready, you will be contacted with more details on how to select the loads you wish to donate.

Women In Trucking Association is leading the way in providing a compassionate, caring and most positive image of the trucking industry. More importantly, we’re helping to feed hungry families. Will you join us?
