What you all have begun with Women In Trucking is wonderful! Congratulations! I asked Char for guidance on an item and she suggested I visit the Message Forum. I am a male writer living in Santa Fe, NM. For a novel in the works, I need to spend a few hours in a large rig (preferable Kenworth or Peterbilt). My two main characters are women in their late fifties/early sixties who become truckers; one is a widow, the other a divorcee. I am the only WIT member living in this area at present. Might any of you have a trucker friend in the Santa Fe/Albuquerque area I can contact? Many thanks!

Hi Storyteller, I have a couple of friends in the area and if you get in touch with Char I will be glad to give her persmission or Ellen to give you my number and try to get you in touch. Thank you for acknowledging the women of the industry. And we do have our own ways of living this life. And many of us do it many different ways at that. Again thank you and hope we can help you in any way possible. God Bless and Have a great weekend.

I think it would be wonderful to have a movie about female drivers in it. Every movie that is made or have been made about truckers, all you see are the male drivers. Maybe we should request a movie about life on the road with women. I could be the Director of Safety or drive and Ellen as the HR. :)
Ok Ellen, I've seen you at many conferences maybe we should commit to the folks here in WIT about getting a movie made of women in the trucking industry that would be aired on HBO. Are you up for it? Lets talk!

Jeana, I love your suggestion! Might the History Channel also be an option? Such a rich and well deserved theme it would be: Women tuckers and your contribution to the industry which is the lifeblood of our great country! (The novel on which I am working will take another couple of years. Two women truckers occupy center stage.)
Thanks Jeana!

Jeana, great idea! It was nice seeing you in Pittsburgh at the Safety and Loss Prevention Council conference.
I know there are a few documentaries already. Have you seen Alligator on the Zipper? You should get a copy, as it's great. It almost made me want to get my CDL and get out of the cubicle.
A few years ago I was part of a video called "Trucking In the USA." It was pretty neat also.
I wonder what it would take to get the History channel to give us some air time?
Hey, we need to get on Oprah first!

Well...I've contacted The History Channel through email. Not sure how far it will get but it's a start. It might be easier to get on The History Channel verses Oprah.
Ellen, so we have a star already: I was at the Mid America Trucking Show this past March when the folks who made Alligator on the Zipper were there. I'm sure that I saw "Trucking In the USA" but I'm sorry to say that I don't remember seeing you on it. I'll have to obtain the movie and watch it again. You wouldn't have a copy of it?
We do as females in this industry need to get some air time! Let's see what we can do.

Nor have I heard anything from the Ellen DeGeneres (sp?) folks. But, HEY!, I hitched a ride yesterday with Mike Davidson, Davidson Trucking, Inc. in Albuquerque. It was FANTASTIC ! A Kenworth T600. And, OH, do I have a deeper appreciation of the work you all perform and a deep, deep admiration of truckers and the trucking industry. You ladies are my heroes!
