Hey there,
Can anyone tell me if there are trucking companies that are more forgiving, other than 10 yrs, for a mm? And, that offer pre-hire, besides, Swift?
Thanks alot!
Wanda

I am sorry, well it is a miesdmeanor. I made a mistake 6 yrs ago. I totally forgot about it, until recently, when one of the pre-hire company, turned me down. I am hoping that I can be given a chance. I haven't done anything since. I work hard, the honest way. I paid a fine. No jail, no charges were filed, nothing. I never lost my job. Still were for the same employers of 7 yrs, when this happened.
I would like some help with this. I want to drive the big trucks. I would like to be heard. I would like to know how I go about telling these companies that I am a good person. I know they have thier polices, and they do not want just anybody driving thier trucks.
Any advice?
Thanks
Wanda

Wanda...I am going to assume that you have already gone thru school? If so, check with Western Express...they usually overlook some things...they are not the best company in the world, but it is a way to get your foot in the door....once you get some experience, the mm won't matter so much.
One thing, times are tough right now and many companies are only hiring people that are totally 'clean'...some are not hiring students any more at all...some have hiring freezes on.
If you have not gone thru school yet...then check with your state community colleges that have truck driving training programs and explain the situation to them and see if they can both find funding for you and also a company that will hire you.
Keep us posted on this please...there are many people on these forums that can benefit from what you find out.
Take care, Sandy

Hey Desiree!
Thank you . I am not in a trcuk driving school. I really do not have the funds to fork out up front and I do not want to use a co-signer. Even though it would be rembursed by the companies. I found another web site, truckingtruth.com, by Brett, that showed some companies that offer the pre-hire. For me, that would be the best way. I even had Swift, but unfortunately they turned me down. they go 10 yrs, before forgiving someone. Now I do not know. I would like some help, how I go about explaining what happened. I know and understand that trucking companies do not want just anyone driving their trucks. If I can get one person to hear me out and just give me a chance to show taht I am not a crazy person and I will not damage their trucks or hard myself or others. I mean, I could go thruogh all the trouble and get it hidden, from others, but to me, that is admit that I have something to hide. My work record, and the fact it was one time, and the fact I have not done that again, should be enough. There are people out there, that have done far worse, and someone gave them a chance.
Thanks
Wanda
