I am getting fairly tired of hearing about how 'some of us are keeping these big deep dark secrets' that are supposedly rampant in the trucking industry. And I am tired of hearing how women are these huge victims in the industry. And how if we do not jump on certain people's band-wagons as cheerleaders we are stalkers, stupid, blind, part of the conspiracy or whatever other personal attack is up for that day.
Damn, according to some there is just no way that we old hand lady drivers could have ever survived without being raped, robbed, mugged or victimized and even though we survived the worst that trucking could throw at us during the times of real harassment and discrimination, we now know nothing or have done nothing to improve things for our sister drivers. We must of just buried our heads in the sand and ignored our victimization. NOT!
Let me tell you that if you are looking to become a victim, then you danged sure betcha you will become one. If you are looking to be sexually harassed, then I can assure you that you will find someone who will do something to offend your sensibilities even if it is calling you baby. If you do not use your Goddess given brain and common sense, you danged sure will get taken to the cleaners by some unscrupulous trucking school or recruiter or become a statistic of violence. JUST LIKE YOU WILL IN ANY JOB AND EVEN IN YOUR OWN HOME!!!
I do not understand or know where anyone got the idea that trucking is some sort of Sunday ice cream social...it is not. It is a rough, dangerous, tough job and it is not a job for sissies who whine around about how badly they are treated for being expected to do their jobs...
Furthermore, I am tired of reading unsubstantiated rumor and innuendo about all of these poor victims in the trucking industry...most of them if looked at closely and intellectually have holes in the stories big enough to drive a truck through...but because someone wants to make some sort of name for themselves, they are being touted as fact all over the net. HOGWASH!!!
Then we are expected to stand up and cheer when told..."I am doing this or that...but I have to keep it secret" or "I cannot talk about it here, go there"...more unsubstantiated HOGWASH!!! I see a whole lot of smoke and absolutely no fire other than in posts that agrandize the poster.
For you newbees and wannabees...trucking is a tough job...yes, there is discrimination just like in any job...and harassment...but it is not all males...heck, you want harassment as a female?...go get a job with a bunch of women in a restaurant or hospital...you will experience more there than you will as a trucker...and that is a fact!
For those of you who are trying so hard to tear down this association and trucking...get over yourselves! Instead of harping on the problems, try stating some solutions for a change....I have seen absolutely no solutions offered on any of your posts anywhere...and yes, I read them not because you are so important because other than as a sister driver, you are not, but because I keep waiting for solutions to be shown and I am always up for solutions to problems that actually help other people.

Words of wisdom from my mother, my teacher, hero and best friend: just remember, He only gives you what you can handle...no more,no less. Keep an eye skyward. A miracle will happen.
Finally, a word from my grandmother, a wise, loving and God fearing woman full of hope love and faith: never sweat the small stuff and remember, it is all small stuff. He handles all the big stuff so we have no worries

Amen Sister! That is why I like working in a male dominated career. Women will fuss, gossip, stab you in the back and perpetually always have drama. Guys blow up and then blow out. It's done. I heard Ellen on the Rollye James show the other night, and the right word for it is Empowerment! Knowledge is power and sometimes when you relay stories on how you have handled something in the past, it helps someone today handle their problem. But your right, this is a hard, tough, dangerous job, but women can do it! And they can succeed handily while doing it! Take these posts and learn from them and empower yourself to suceed!
Success is getting what you want, but Happiness comes with appreciating what you get!
