OK Ellen and Char and probably alllll of you are tired of seeing me on here. I'm sorry for posting so much but I am so gung hoe on we women becoming a tight group and being here for each other.

Life On the Road has so many various areas and I am not a highly educated lady but I live off of common sense. Out here 90% of our daily lives is based on common sense decisions in my opinion. And all that I post at anytime anywhere is only my opinion. And it is GREAT to disagree because then I am able to take another look at myself and learn something in the process.

I have just a few years (hush Ellen lol) out here and I have gotten set in my ways. My own way of where I like to stop to eat. Where I like to take a shower. How I like to deal with dock workers, shipping clerks and receivers. Even how and where I like to take "Jacie" out to the potty. LOL (sorry if that offended or was distasteful but ...anyway it happens). I have where and how I choose to park at night. How I like to get into places as in downtown LA (that is not Lower Alabama ladies) or even HuntsPoint. We all find our niches and get comfortable. BUT~~~WHAT...and be open minded...WHAT if someone has a better way? A safer way? An easier way? I for one would love to hear your stories and helpful hints so as I might can change some of my ole school ways. And I would appreciate everyone for what you give to me. Thank you bunches!

Also, I would love to hear some of your tales from the road as a lady driver....heck I even have a couple myself all the way down to a baseball cap with a pony tail and a receiver who argued till SHE turned blue I WAS A MAN so therefore I couldn't use the ladies restroom...and she had the key LOL!!! You never know lol....SO share with not only me but others please. And thank you again. Have a great day!

God Bless and don't forget your prayers,
Ingrid

I'm not a solo driver...yet! But I am curious as to what the answers to these questions might be. I do plan to be out there, alone, for at least a year, and I am very concerned about my safety. And so is Grumpy!
I have been out on the truck with my husband, and I have been keeping track of the good and bad places to stop for things like showers and sleeping (in regard to walking across parking lots to the building), but he has a very limited area in which he travels and I don't expect to be travelling in the same areas. I am curious as to whether anyone has any suggestions.

When I was OTR I tried to stop early for the night, and park close to the restarunt. Some times I would look for other company drivers to walk with. I carried a large flashlight (maglight). Most truckstops are safe places to park. I never was scared to walk around after dark. Wear shower shoes no matter what. I liked taking my own towel in and using theirs for a floor mat.

The first time out on my own after my two weeks with a trainer, I had to go to Miami, FL. I was scared to death. There are no truckstops in Miami and no one told me. I was going to Publix Wharehouse. After searching I found a really small one in Miami (not really a truckstop but a parking lot that I paid 5.00 to stay in). I made it the next morning to my destination but that is one place that I did not walk around at night.

I too have my hidey holes that I like to stop at. And I make it a policy never to walk across the lot after dark unless I am in the front row and the lot is well lit.

I don't wear shower shoes and I always use the truck stop towels. I have never gotten any sort of infection like atheletes foot in a truck stop. Or any other type of sickness besides food poisoning...I call it truck stop revenge! lol I quit eating in truck stops for the most part and I don't get food poisoning any more...I cook in the truck or get something to go and bring it back to the truck. betcha the pepto bismal people miss me! lmao
