Everyday life...:
Everyday Life
Well a lot has happened since the last the post. I am currently sitting in Gary, IN at the hotel. Today is Saturday, been here since Tuesday. Will be here until at least Monday. Truck is in the shop for turbo, clutch and batteries. Yay!
I have since last post quit driving team, and now am solo. I did try transferring to Con-Way LTL Freight. I liked it, I hated it. I couldn't make up my mind, so ultimately I left it. I pulled doubles and triples for them at night. The long hours is what ultimately made the decision for me. I had not come off the road to work even harder and longer hours just to be home for 10 hours a day. I was getting less rest due to the commute and never knew what my start time was for my shift until they called me. Sometimes only 30 min before I had to be at work! I noticed that I had better quality hometime while driving on the road instead of this particular job.
But I loved my co-workers and bosses, and it was a very hard decision to make. So I am back here at Con-Way Truckload and loving it. Even with the breakdown. I chose to see it as a mini-vacation. Yay!!
I am still trying to catch up on my emails from my time spent working LTL, that is how far behind I got. I am proud of myself though, many that hired on at the same time or after me, left before I did. It takes a special perserverance to do that job and they do indeed earn their money. So if you interested in LTL, shoot me a msg or email to missimpala@hotmail.com and I will do my best to answer your questions!
Till next time... keep the shiny side up, and the rubber side down.

Everyday life....
Chillin' in the hotel in SLC. Just had the last four days off due to the Thanksgiving holiday. I run a KC to SLC dedicated run, we don't live in the route, well we don't really "live" anywhere, so we stay at the hotel here on the weekends. Been looking to maybe find an RV park where we can just take the bobtail and it not cost a fortune like Idle-Aire. Trying to catch up on Facebook, emails and such. Seems like there is never enough time to catch up on things!
Course it would help if I hadn't had a marathon of movies! Watched New Moon for the 2nd time, 2012, Blind Side, All About Steve and The Ugly Truth. New Moon is only for the most avid fans of the Twilight Saga, others may think it cheesy. But the book was the weakest one of the 4 books. 2012, week science and plot but awesome CG's! Blind Side was one of the most awesome movies I have seen in awhile, it is a must see! I about pee'd my pants with All About Steve. The movie and plot were not exceptional, but Sandra Bullock was! The Ugly Truth, funny, but pridectable.
I go back to work tomorrow, blech... not really, it could be worse! I could still be working at the nursing home! ADD is in overdrive tonight, can't seem to find anything to blog about, so over and out and keep the rubber side down!

Everyday life....
Well, I think this blog thing is sort of like Facebook? Why do we want to go and read total strangers entries? I am not sure, but I enjoyed reading Alaska's entries, so here I will go forth and bore all of those reading. LOL!
Received my CDL in 1999, and have driven all of that except for 2.5 years when I was a Driver Manager, Breakdown Ops, and Extended Ops. I have driven dry van mostly, but do have some experience hauling chemical tanker and flat bed. I have driven solo, team, 3-man teamed, and trained. I think I have covered everything. I come from a long line of truckers. After trying to attend college for Nursing and then later for Geology, I gave up and have been truckin'! I will eventually return, as I know that as an obese person, my time as a driver is limited. I love trucking, but don't like how it has become more and more oppressed by rules, regulations, and monitoring.
Currently sitting in the middle of nowhere, WY. That is an actual place by the way, it is between mm 140 and mm 141 on I-80! Just kidding. Been sitting here 48 hrs now due to a major snow storm over Sherman. I always shut down approx 100 miles before the actual shutdown or if the conditions warrant it. My co was driving and shut down at this little parking area. No restrooms, no stores. Thank God for port-a-potties and plenty of provisions since of course it is winter! We have full tanks as we do not like to get below 1/2 tank for this very reason in the winter. We have a digital roaming signal (barely) on the phones and air card, so I have been able to utilize my time very productively.
Currently catching up on all my Facebook news, listening to the soundtrak and score of Twilight. I know, I know, it is for teenagers, but the whole saga rocks! The books are better than the movie, but the movie was awesome in its' own right. The music was really good, so I finally broke down and bought the soundtrak and the score!
We still keep our shifts opposite of one another to be able to sleep comfortably and one of us is always ready to go. So my co is in the bed and I am about to wake him up and go there myself.
So until next time.... keep the rubber side down!
