Look at Community Colleges in your area. Learning to drive is not all that hard. Also some companies offer training and then you owe them usually a year. A lot of companies have automatic trucks but I think learning to drive a standard is the way to go (if it is offered).

It's that time of the year where you can make a difference in a lot of children's lives. Become a Trucker Buddy. Go to www.truckerbuddy.org and sign up for a class. Its fun for you and good for the kids!Teaches them about our country and improves penmanship.

There are trucking companies out there that will allow you to take a pet on the truck after training and with a pet deposit. How ever I don't think they allow pet during training or in motels unless you pay for that yourself. All I can say is do your research before signing on with any company. Check out Swift, US Express, and Schneider National.
Good luck!

Mid-America Truck Show is in March. I will be attending with my Mom. I have reservations all ready to go and December 1, I will be registering for the truck show. Are Women in Trucking going to be there this year? If so is there anyway we can get together earlier? I am finding it hard to stay for the whole program, because of the drive back to VA?

HELLO!! Have you noticed that there are not that many new posts on Women in Trucking web site? What is going on out there? What is everyone up to? Are you all staying busy with driving, working on trucks, dispatching, running your business? Are you getting ready for the truck shows (MATS, GATS or another)?

Hi Bob,
Its Angela. Just wanted to let you know that I have been losing weight since the Challenge. I am now down to 176 lbs. I have not started doing the exercising again but will start out slowly so that I don't get hurt. I still park away from the main building of truck stops but know I need to do more. Just wanted to give you an update. Thanks for all the help.

Hope all of you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. This year I am once again home for Christmas and will be back on the road the Tuesday after. Don't know where I will be for New Years Eve.

Ask the Log Book Professional » logging Aug 30, 2010 11:57 AM (Total replies: 0)

I never log sleeper berth time. I always put off duty not driving. DOT has looked at my logs multiple times and has never said anything about how I log. I just find it easier to do the math.

What are the top three things you want to do before you kick the bucket.

My top three would be:
1. Motorcycle license
2. Donkey ride to bottom of Grand Canyon
3. Travel to Scotland

I have seen in the truck stops a book for CSA 2010, for $2.99.
Has anyone bought it or looked at it?
Is it worth buying?

General Discussion » weight loss challenge? May 27, 2010 08:34 AM (Total replies: 28)

Have not been on in a while. I am still holding at 180 lbs. I think that is because I eat when I am board when driving, I don't eat snack food but do eat a lot of fruit. The hardest times I still have is when I am at home and I have ready access to food ie popcorn, cheesecake (homemade with splenda) and stuff like that. I have not done any excercises in a long while. So I really need to start doing that again plus it made me feel good about myself.
Any way went from a size 42 waist to a 38 and that really pumped me up. So I think I will be trying a lot harder to excercise and eat right.
Ladies this has been a lot of fun. keep in touch.
Angela

Well, I weighted myself yesterday afternoon (the worst time to do it) and drum roll please.... down to 180. I have a tape measure now but I have not used it. But my jeans are very loose and so are my under garments and my shirts are bagging off of me.
Ladies I enjoyed meeting all of you at MATS and Lets keep up the weight loss we are AWESOME!! Moved up to 5 pound weights so I back to do one rep on the exercises, and I am feeling the burn now.
PS, Bob thanks for all the help at MATS.
