Finalists Selected for 4th Annual 'Distinguished Woman in Logistics' Award

Plover, WI – March 14, 2018 – The Women In Trucking (WIT) Association announced the finalists for the fourth annual Distinguished Woman in Logistics Award (DWLA) established to promote the achievements of women employed in the North American transportation industry. Finalists for the award are Renee Krug, Kendra Phillips, and Betty Weiland. The winner will be announced by the DWLA program sponsor,, on behalf of WIT on Tuesday, April 10, during the Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) 2018 “Capital Ideas” Conference and Exhibition in Palm Desert, CA.

The award highlights the crucial roles of leading women in the dynamic and influential field of commercial transportation and logistics, which encompasses both logistics service providers as well as motor carriers.

The finalists for the 2018 DWLA award have demonstrated superior leadership within their company as well as with other professional, educational or philanthropic organizations. 

Renee Krug 

As Chief Financial Officer, Renee is responsible for all financial reporting, mergers and acquisitions, treasury, accounting, tax and HR at GlobalTranz, a $1.1 billion revenue technology-driven 3PL. Renee has over 15 years of executive leadership and over 7+ years of transportation industry experience. She was named 2017 CFO of the Year Arizona by CV Magazine, a finalist for CFO of the Year by the Arizona Chapter of Financial Executives International (FEI) and Phoenix Business Journal, in addition to receiving the CFO Award from Finance Monthly. Renee lead GlobalTranz to achieve record-setting financial growth and profitability in 2016 and 2017, completing five acquisitions in 2017, and effectively preparing GlobalTranz for future growth. 

Kendra Phillips 

Kendra currently serves as the Group Director of SE Operations for Ryder, a leader in commercial fleet management, dedicated transportation, and supply chain solutions. She manages a multi-million dollar P&L, driving margin improvement with current customers and sales growth with new targets. In her first year in this role, she was the top operational performer within the division. In addition, she manages a team of over 700 employees. Her team was awarded Ryder’s prestigious “Chairman’s Safety Award.” She drives key business goals and objectives by establishing best practices, leading through change, and creating a culture of accountability.

Betty Weiland 

Betty joined J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc., in 1980 and serves as Senior Editorial Manager of the Transportation Publishing Department. In her role, she leads a group of 10 editors, who are responsible for developing and updating all of J. J. Keller's transportation publications, in addition to providing content for online services, training programs, webinars, whitepapers, and forms. With expertise in transportation safety issues, Betty serves as Editor for the industry-standard Fleet Safety Compliance Manual and other popular J. J. Keller publications, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations Pocketbook and Handbook.

Finalists were selected from a vast group of high-performing women representing third-party logistics, supply chain management, and related functional disciplines. Members of the judging panel were: Dr. Stephanie S. Ivey, director of Intermodal Freight Transportation Institute, Southeast Transportation Workforce Center, and associate professor, department of civil engineering at the University of Memphis; Laurie Denham, vice president of education, TIA; Brent Hutto, chief relationship officer,; and Ellen Voie, president and CEO, WIT.

The winner of the 2018 award will be announced on stage during the opening session of the TIA Capital Ideas Conference and Exhibition in Palm Desert, CA on Tuesday morning, April 10.
