Smash Success: 2018 Accelerate! Conference & Expo

More than 830 transportation and logistics professionals registered to attend the fourth annual Accelerate! Conference & Expo Nov. 12-14 in Frisco, Texas (a 300-person increase from the year before)! The unique event works to elevate the issue of gender diversity, develop women leaders, and explore how to leverage a diverse workforce for company success and engage and retain more females in the industry.

There were excellent opportunities to network and share challenges and best practices with peers, including Speed Networking and Speed Mentoring sessions.

Lois Barth, Human Development Expert, Motivational Speaker, Coach and Author, brought the SPARKLE to the Accelerate! Conference with her high-energy and empowering opening keynote session, "Putting Your Sparkle in High Gear & Creating a Life that Lights Up," sponsored by Michelin.

Over 60 educational sessions were available to attend on critical transportation issues and trends, along with perspectives of the positive impact women can have on the industry, segmented by five educational areas of focus: Leadership, Professional Development, HR/Talent Management  Operations, Sales & Marketing, and Professional Development.

Hundreds of companies, brands, products and services were made available as valuable solutions during the Accelerate! Expo.

To celebrate Clare, the first truck driver doll, and the positive impact she has on the industry to encourage young girls to consider trucking as a career, attendees gathered for a night of networking, food, and fun. A Clare-Look-A-Like contest was held and the winner took home her very own doll.

The evening also featured an intricate and delicious #WheresClare cake thanks to reception sponsor, TA-Petro.

Finalists of the 2018 Influential Woman in Trucking award received recognition. They are Nozuko Mayeza, Managing Director, Tulsawiz Logistics; Brooke Willey, Vice President – Human Resources, CRST International; and Angela Eliacostas, Founder and CEO, AGT Global Logistics (winner). Kary Schaefer, General Manager, Product Marketing and Strategy, Daimler and WIT CEO Ellen Voie presented the awards.

In it's second year, the Technology Truck Tour was an opportunity for attendees to learn about new and ground-breaking technologies of tractors on the road. Featured were the Autobon Co-Pilot product, Freightliner Cascadia, Peterbilt Model 579 UltraLoft, and ZF ReAX Electrically Assisted Steering. Attendees could even experience ReAX for themselves by getting behind the wheel for a quick drive!

Several companies had large teams participate at this year’s conference. In fact, YRC Freight had more than 70 leaders and drivers attend, earning them the Participation Award for the second year in a row! (Photo credit: YRC Freight)
