There’s a lot of buzz in the industry about new technologies that power trucks and how they’re driven. First, autonomous trucks have been making progress toward commercial deployment and their impact on freight transportation will be undoubtedly profound. Several of the nation’s largest fleets already are investing in self-driving trucks. Early investments in these technologies by major fleets could disrupt the industry on an unprecedented scale on many levels. In addition, the methods by which trucks are powered are transitioning to alternative forms of power.
