Best Practices in Leadership Development: Peterbilt & PACCAR

This session will introduce you how a leading company in trucking has developed strategies
that develop future leaders. The presentation will discuss how different programs are targeted for the different groups including new employees, those with up to 10 years’ experience, and tenured employees with high leadership potential. Attend this session to learn how to develop programs that support different leadership profiles; gain an understanding of how to develop a Mentor/ Mentee Coaching roadmap; how to give/receive leadership feedback; and how to building internal succession options. 

About the Presenters

Laney Lockhart currently manages the Training and Organizational Development function for the Peterbilt Motors Company. His responsibilities include the overall development and implementation of programs to comply with regulatory standards and enhance effectiveness in leadership positions. He has also managed the safety and health function where he was responsible for security and employee disability and benefits programs. Prior to joining PACCAR in 2002, Laney worked in the Telecommunications and Trade Show industries where he held leadership positions in Operations, Safety, and Human Resources. Laney is certified as a Professional in Human Resources. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management from the University of North Texas.

Jill Bezner is the Digital Communications Manager at Peterbilt Motors Company. Joining Peterbilt in 2011, she has more than eight years of experience in the Marketing Sales Administration, Dealer Development and Marketing departments. Jill has served as a leader within the Peterbilt Women’s Initiative (PBWIN) for three years. Jill’s educational background includes a Master’s in Strategic Communications from the University of North Texas and a Bachelor’s in Public Relations from Texas State University.

Cindie Melton is the Human Resources Manager for the Denton Plant at Peterbilt Motors Company. She has over 35 years of experience with Peterbilt in the Human Resources, Engineering and Purchasing departments. She has been with PACCAR since November 1983. Her educational background includes an MBA and an undergraduate degree in Human Resources.
