Getting the Most from Engage: Member Conversations That Matter

Written by Alyssa Kirkman | Sep 15, 2026

Every member of this community carries knowledge someone else needs. Engage is where that knowledge actually gets shared.

Some of the most useful advice in this industry doesn't come from a manual or a training session. It comes from people who have already been where you are. That's what happens on Engage every day, and it's easy to underestimate how much value there is in WIT’s online community.

If you haven't spent much time on Engage, or if you log in occasionally without really participating, this is your invitation to spend some time exploring the conversations.

New Member Spaces Make the First Step Easier

Joining a new community can feel intimidating, even when that community is built specifically to support you. Engage has a thread specifically to help you introduce yourself before jumping into the wider platform.

If you're newer to WIT, start there. If you've been a member for a while, now is a great time to re-introduce yourself and share what’s new with you

Participating in Current Conversations

Don’t know where to start? Read some of the current threads, and once you find a topic you know something about, jump in. You can also join the communities tied to WIT's Networking Groups to grow your relationships. Remember to keep an eye out for threads with no replies yet. A short response might make a big difference to another member.

You don't need the perfect answer to be worth posting. A quick response, a related experience, or even a "following this too" can keep a conversation moving and let the person who posted know they're not talking into the void.

Real-Time Access Keeps the Conversation Moving

Good conversations lose momentum when replies take a day to arrive. The WIT App lets you read Engage and respond right as it happens, whether you’re answering a question or participating in a conversation. Quick, timely responses keep the conversation going and help members feel seen and valued.

Control What Lands in Your Inbox

The Engage platform will send you emails based on your participation, and it’s up to you what emails you receive.

Click your profile picture, then click My Account to edit your Community Notifications. You can update how often you hear from each community you belong to.

  • Choose real-time emails if you want to stay on top of a discussion as it happens, or switch to a daily or weekly digest if you'd rather get fewer, consolidated updates.
  • You can even send those notifications to a separate email address if you want to keep work and personal messages apart.

Under Email Preferences, you can also opt into the Smart Newsletter, a Tuesday update shaped by your own activity and interests, and set your preferences for Community, Participation, and Promotional emails.

A few minutes spent adjusting these settings can make the difference between an inbox that feels overwhelming and one that keeps you exactly as in the loop as you want to be. View complete instructions on Engage. If you run into questions, membership@womenintrucking.org is always ready to help.

Current members: Log in to Engage this month to update your communication preferences and join the conversation. Your voice adds to the value everyone else gets from this community.

Not yet a member? Join WIT to access Engage and all of WIT’s member benefits.
