When Ashley Kordish joined the Women In Trucking Association, she was looking for something many women in the industry hope to find: a place to connect with others who understood the unique opportunities and challenges of working in trucking.
She found much more than that.
After attending her first Accelerate! Conference & Expo, Kordish quickly discovered a community of women who were eager to share ideas, offer encouragement and build lasting professional relationships. Those connections left a lasting impression, and before long, she knew she wanted to play a role in creating that same experience for others.
Today, Kordish serves on WIT’s Membership Committee and volunteers as a mentor, giving back to an organization she credits with expanding her own professional network and reinforcing the value of women supporting one another throughout their careers.
"I have enjoyed my time with WIT so much that I wanted to be able to volunteer and give back to the organization," Kordish says. "I truly believe in the organization and what it stands for and it felt right to join a committee and give back."
That sense of purpose continues to guide the way she approaches volunteerism. Whether she is encouraging someone to become a member, welcoming new faces into the association or mentoring women entering the industry, Kordish believes every interaction has the potential to make a difference. Some contributions may seem small, she says, but they all help strengthen the community that has meant so much to her.
Helping women build those connections has become one of the most rewarding parts of volunteering. Through mentoring, she has watched young professionals gain confidence, develop their careers and discover the opportunities available within trucking. Seeing their growth has reinforced her belief that a strong support system can have a lasting impact, particularly in an industry where relationships often become just as valuable as experience.
As CEO of Ralph Moyle, Inc., Kordish leads her family's transportation and warehousing business, overseeing major customer relationships, setting strategic goals and fostering a company culture built on collaboration and shared success. While the responsibilities are different, the foundation remains the same. Building trust, investing in people and creating opportunities for others are just as important in the boardroom as they are within a volunteer organization.
By encouraging women to build strong professional networks and support one another, she hopes more women will discover not only the opportunities available in trucking but also the sense of community that has kept her engaged with WIT.
Looking ahead, she hopes to continue sharing ideas, supporting the association's membership efforts and serving wherever she can. Her goal is to help other women experience the same encouragement and sense of belonging that first inspired her to become involved.
