Women In Trucking Association (WIT) Vice President Deborah Sparks has accepted a position to become the Executive Director of the National Motor Freight Traffic Association (NMFTA), which oversees the system that classifies commodities for transportation based on several shipment characteristics. Sparks will leave her post as WIT's Vice President, effective Feb. 4. She will take on responsibilities as Executive Director at NMFTA on Feb. 14, according to the Alexandria, Virginia-based association.

Sparks has been leaving various strategic initiatives at WIT since she was hired in this role in January 2020.

"Debbie has helped WIT to achieve several significant accomplishments, including generating momentum around the implementation of WITney, the new Driver Ambassador Trailer for Women In Trucking," says Ellen Voie, WIT's president and CEO.

"We are so appreciative of her service these last two years to the association, and wish the best for her in her new leadership role at NMFTA."

Previously, Sparks was the Director of Transportation & Community Outreach at Wreaths Across America, a group that travels the country placing wreaths on the headstones of fallen American servicemen and women. Prior to that position, she served as Vice President of Business Development for the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) and Director of Marketing for the American Trucking Associations (ATA).
