Starting a career in trucking is exciting—but it can also feel overwhelming when you’re trying to get your foot in the door. That’s exactly what Bridgette Johnson, a professional driver from Ohio, shared recently in the Engage forum.
Bridgette introduced herself to the community and opened up about her challenges:
“I want to gain more experience, but my applications are being overlooked. I’d love to learn more about becoming an owner-operator or finding employment. I just need a little push—I truly enjoyed driving and I’m desperately trying to get back to what I love.”
Her message struck a chord—and the WIT community stepped in with encouragement, connections, and practical advice.
This exchange is a perfect example of the power of community. Bridgette came to Engage looking for help—and in return, she gained mentors, networking opportunities, and a whole team of supporters cheering her on.
The trucking industry can be tough to navigate, especially for those just starting out. But at WIT, no one has to do it alone. Members share advice, open doors, and remind one another not to give up. Join the conversation on Engage
