With factors such as shifting demographics and buyer behavior, values, and priorities in doing business, the commercial freight transportation industry is going through unprecedented change at extraordinary speed. Now more than ever, it’s critical that we have diverse thinking and leadership at the top – particularly when corporate culture, policies, and leadership style can have a direct correlation on productivity and accountability.
Fortunately, the transportation industry has acknowledged this fact and is making gender diversity in leadership a priority. In fact, according to the 2024 WIT Index, participating companies indicate that an average of 28% of their C-suite executives are women and another 34.5% of their company leaders (those with supervisory responsibilities) are women. In addition, participating companies in this year’s WIT Index reported that 29.5% of their boards of directors are women.
