OCT. 26 BLOCK 1 2:15PM - 3:15PM DESOTO
Moving the Bar on Safety in Trucking
SAFETY & COMPLIANCE OPERATIONS
About This Session
Unfortunately, safety progress in the trucking industry has hit a plateau, as truck crash data has been quite stagnant for years. Even though truck crashes are not trending upward, safety costs have skyrocketed — particularly with litigation and insurance. New ATRI research, which updates its foundational "Crash Predictor" report, provides an important blueprint on how the industry can make new improvements in safety. Additional FMCA/ATRI research on safety technologies shows how to target specific crash types — assuming the industry can convince truck drivers to use them.
Attend this session to:
- Gain a better understanding of the trucking industry's safety record over time
- Understand truck driver behaviors known to increase crash probability
- Gain a better understanding of what safety strategies can make a difference
- Put real-world costs to safety outcomes
