We’re excited to celebrate and honor Char Pingel, who retired from the Women In Trucking Association (WIT) last month. Char was instrumental in establishing WIT in 2007 with Ellen Voie and over the last 16+ years has been foundational in the growth and expansion of WIT’s membership, programs and presence. She’s had many roles and responsibilities over the years, including Director of Member Services, where she has engaged with thousands of WIT members and collaborators over the years.

Ellen-Char-Chocolate-Fountain-MATSChar has created countless memories for WIT and our members, but her greatest personal memory with WIT was the first Salute to Women Behind the Wheel. As she tells it, “There were lots of ladies outside the closed doors anxiously waiting to come in. When we opened the doors, we spontaneously began clapping and saying ‘Thank you for coming!’ Their smiles and excitement were priceless.” And, so began a tradition of a bold and fun celebration of women in transportation!

Char’s retirement will be full of family, fun and trips both locally and beyond. What a way to celebrate after such a storied career with Women In Trucking!
