Engage Spotlight: Conversations are Waiting for You
by Alyssa Kirkman, on May 18, 2026 1:22:56 PM

Every week, WIT members show up on the member-only Engage Online Forum. They ask questions they're sitting with, share the challenges they're navigating, and offer their experiences and advice. Here's a look at four recent conversations that represent different corners of the industry, and offer you the opportunity to get involved.
Going the Distance — Literally
One over-the-road truck driver recently shared something that goes well beyond trucking. She's training for a march to support veterans experiencing homelessness and mental health challenges, and she's doing it while on the road. Her question to the community: Do other members participate in charity events like 5Ks, marathons, or step challenges? Is it as fulfilling for you as it is for her?

The Hard-Won Lessons
Another discussion cuts right to the heart of what this community is for. A member in insurance asks members to share the thing they wish they'd known sooner.
One member said they wish they’d known to never make assumptions. She advises to double-check everything from pickup numbers to delivery locations, let your personality show in phone calls with drivers and customers, and never say "that's not my job."
This thread is the place to share what you’ve learned along the way. Join the discussion
A New Driver at a Fork in the Road
Another thread comes from a new CDL holder who is considering her future. She's “three months in,” just finished 30,000 miles with her trainer, and is weighing a lease agreement against staying on as a company driver.
She's factored in her current financial situation, compared her take-home to her previous job, and thought through the freedom that comes with choosing her own loads. She's looking for people who've been there, who've taken the leap into a lease, or who've stayed company and made it work to share what they know. Join the discussion
Fuel Costs on Everyone's Mind
The last example is shorter but no less relevant. A member managing a fleet asked a simple, direct question: how are fleets handling the rising cost of fuel?
It's the kind of operational question that deserves a range of answers, because there isn't one right approach. Whether you're in dispatch, running your own operation, or driving for someone else, chances are you have a perspective on this. Fuel costs touch everyone in this industry, and the strategies worth knowing are the ones coming from people living them. Join the discussion
Your Experience Is the Answer
The member-only Engage Online Forum is valuable because the WIT community has a wide range of people qualified to answer the questions. The threads above are live and waiting. And there's a good chance that what you know is exactly what someone else needs to hear.
