The Women In Trucking Association (WIT) has announced Alicia Conner as its November 2025 Member of the Month. Conner is the Director of Digital and Social Media at Conversion Interactive Agency.

Joining Conversion Interactive Agency nine years ago, Conner didn’t expect to fall in love with trucking. What began as a fascination with social media marketing soon evolved into a deep respect for the people behind the wheel and a career defined by growth, creativity, and connection.

“I was drawn to social media marketing and loved the idea of creating content as a full-time job,” Conner says. “The transportation industry was unfamiliar before joining Conversion, but I quickly found myself learning the language of trucking, picking up CB lingo, and connecting with drivers through social media.”

That early exposure to driver stories shaped her understanding of the industry and ignited a passion that has carried her through several leadership roles. From social media strategist to director of digital media, Conner has built a career on empathy, innovation, and an unwavering drive to help others succeed.

Finding Fulfillment Through Connection and Leadership

For Conner, the most rewarding part of her journey has always been seeing her work make a real impact. Early on, that meant creating content that resonated with drivers and helped them feel seen.

As she advanced in her career, her focus shifted from content creation to empowering others. Helping clients reach their business goals and mentoring teammates became the new sources of fulfillment.

“Growing into leadership roles has been an honor. I value empathetic leadership and love mentoring others. Helping teammates grow and find their own confidence in the industry has become one of the most meaningful parts of my career,” she says.

Conner’s growth also included developing new solutions that shape the way carriers connect with drivers. One milestone she’s especially proud of is helping to create the agency’s reputation management solution, which allows clients to take control of their online presence and reviews.

Her leadership style reflects the same care and authenticity that have defined her career. Whether she’s guiding a brainstorming session or speaking at an industry event, Conner approaches every opportunity with intention saying, “I’ve faced moments of self-doubt, especially when stepping into new roles or bigger challenges. What helped me overcome it was focusing on preparation and purpose. I learned to trust my experience and lean on mentors who reminded me that confidence grows from showing up and doing the work, even when it feels uncomfortable.”

That mindset has served her well, particularly in high-visibility moments. One of her favorite career memories is speaking at Conversion’s annual R&R Conference alongside Clarissa Rankin, a trucking influencer known for her lively social media presence.

Mentorship, Motivation, and Making an Impact

Behind Conner’s success is a network of mentors who have supported her every step of the way. She credits several leaders at Conversion Interactive Agency including Kelley Walkup, Erin Young, Brian Johnston, Beverly Ringstaff, and Priscilla Peters for investing in her growth and encouraging her to lead with confidence.

Conner was named Conversion’s Employee of the Year in 2023 and received the Teamwork at its Finest Award in 2021. She serves on the company’s awards committee, helping shape internal and external recognition programs that celebrate success across the agency. Conversion has been named a Top Workplace in Middle Tennessee for eight consecutive years and one of the Top Companies for Women to Work for in Transportation in both 2024 and 2025.

Her commitment to purpose extends beyond the workplace as she is a lifelong reader and volunteers with Book’Em Nashville, reading to children five times each school year and providing books for them to take home.

Additionally, Conner is an active member of the Women In Trucking Association, which she credits with helping her feel connected to a larger community of women in the industry.

“It’s so refreshing to see women in our industry be supported and celebrated,” she says. “Being part of Women in Trucking has reminded me how powerful representation can be. Seeing other women lead, innovate, and thrive in transportation continues to inspire me and reinforces how much opportunity there is for women to make an impact in this industry.”

Looking Ahead: Growth, Grit, and Giving Back

As Conner looks toward the future, her goals are centered on leadership, efficiency, and continued growth while she focuses on supporting her digital team and finding ways to create more efficiency within their zone. In five years, she hopes to continue growing as a leader and contribute more holistically to the success of the agency.

Her advice to others entering the trucking industry is rooted in enthusiasm and perspective: “I’d wholeheartedly recommend joining the trucking industry," she says. "Trucking is the backbone of our nation, and there’s such a sense of pride in being part of that. Get ready for a fast-paced but fun career that’s always changing and evolving.”

Conner also encourages young professionals to stay open to learning saying, "the best career advice I’ve been given is that my value is not in knowing everything, but in being willing to learn. As much as I love developing knowledge ahead of a challenge or role change, it’s important to sit in the discomfort of not knowing and allowing myself to be a student.”

Outside of work, she stays grounded through journaling, reading, and walking her dog, She also draws inspiration from her favorite mantra: “Visualize your highest self and start showing up as her.”

Recently, Conner took that advice to heart by running her first half marathon. “After years of telling myself I was ‘just not a runner,’ I decided to prove myself wrong,” she says. “It ended up being such a fun experience, and I’m proud of myself for sticking to my training plan and seeing it through.”

For Conner, growth is about showing up with purpose, leading with empathy, and creating space for others to thrive. Whether she’s guiding her digital team, developing innovative strategies, or reading aloud to a classroom of children, Conner embodies the same mindset that has carried her through nearly a decade in trucking: be curious, stay humble, and never stop learning.
